I love car commercials. Some tug at your heart (Subaru) some annoy you (Nissan), and some make you want a car you don’t even want. For me, I have two favourites: Subaru’s “2011 Mediocrity” campaign, and Toyota’s “It’s a Car!” campaign. Both for me were absolutely memorable and hilarious... The Yaris one remains my all-time fav!
Here’s a compilation of all of the Yaris “It’s a Car!” ads.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
And here’s one of the ads from the Subaru campaign.
What’s your favourite car ad(s)?

These 3 from my childhood. If I had to pick, I would say the Citroen one is my favourite of the 3.
VW Singing In The Rain
Citroen Dancing Robot
Skoda Cake Car
Also I think I now understand why I like hatchbacks so much.

Does this one count?
I also have a soft spot for chevy’s “Like a rock” commercials. They make me want to run off and buy a pick-up truck, even though I don’t really understand the concept of these things.

Not humorous, or particularly high concept, but I’m still a fan of Iacocca’s spots for Chrysler in the ‘80s. I like his tough, strait talking style.
Ed Whitacre tried to do the same thing for GM, post bankruptcy, but he just couldn’t pull it off.

Even though it’s not really for a car.
It just so happens that my beloved Audi also makes some of the best ads. Pretty much look up “Audi commercial” with or without the word “Superbowl” and take your pick.

This new ad for the Mazda6. First of all, I own a Mazda6 and adore it. Second of all, this commercial uses the song “Back In Baby’s Arms” by Patsy Cline. And she is one of my all-time favorite singers. It’s like they made this commercial with me in mind!

Once upon a time, there was a longer version of this commercial. Computer generated images of shiny objects, some of which fly, coming together to create a passenger vehicle definitely have my vote.
